
Meet the VAL Leadership Team
The Veterans Adventure League at Michigan State University is led by students who care about connection, camaraderie, and community. VAL creates space for veterans and military connected students to build friendships through tabletop games, shared adventures, and real-world events that help people feel seen and supported.
Parker Brisbee
Title: President
Parker Brisbee grew up in Portland, Oregon, and served eight years of active duty in the United States Navy as an Aviation Boatswain's Mate, Handler. He spent five years on the flight deck of the USS Gerald R. Ford, specializing in fire and rescue response, and then spent his last three years of active duty in Naples, Italy.
Parker transferred to the United States Navy Reserve in 2024 and began attending Michigan State University, where he is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. In his spare time, Parker is usually working on his house, working out, or playing video games.
Anastasia (Ana) Griffith
Title: Vice President
Anastasia (Ana) Griffith grew up in Lake Orion, Michigan, and is currently a sophomore at Michigan State University studying Human Biology. After completing her undergraduate studies, she plans to pursue a PhD in Osteopathic Medicine and specialize in trauma and emergency medicine.
Ana is a 68W (Combat Medic) in the Michigan National Guard and has served for about 2.5 years. She loves everything outdoors, especially spending time on the lake paddleboarding.
Andrew Burns
Title: Secretary
Andrew Burns is a Specialist in the Michigan National Guard. He has served for the past five years as a 25S Satellite Communications Operator and Maintainer.
He is a junior at Michigan State University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Journalism with a focus in Broadcast and Sports Journalism. In his free time, Andrew enjoys spending time with friends, going to live events, and playing board games.
Ricardo (Ricky) Banuelos Jr.
Title: Treasurer
Ricardo (Ricky) Banuelos Jr. served in the U.S. Army for five years as a medic and was stationed at Fort Sam Houston. He spent a lot of time supporting others, both on and off duty.
Ricky is an avid outdoorsman when his body allows and enjoys being around people. He is currently a senior at Michigan State University pursuing a degree in Sociology. Ricky is known around CVMAS for his friendly and welcoming demeanor, and he is always happy to have anyone and everyone in his presence.
