With over 2,000 military-connected students attending MSU, there are many opportunities to get involved and find community with your peers. We highly encourage students to pursue co-curricular learning opportunities by joining registered student organizations (RSOs). MSU has over 1,000 different RSOs! If you can't find one you like, we make it simple to start your own. You can learn more about RSOs and MSU using the link below, but this page will highlight a few ways veterans can find community here.

PEER ADVISORS FOR VETERAN EDUCATION

Peer Advisors for Veteran Education (PAVE) is a peer support program that connects incoming student veterans on college campuses with student veterans who are trained as Peer Advisors who can help them navigate college life, address challenges they may face, refer them to appropriate resources on and off campus, and provide ongoing support.

Michigan State University has had the PAVE program since 2016. Over that time, 21 peer advisors have worked with over 500 students veterans, helping them find a sense of community and belonging among their Spartan peers.

The PAVE Program is part of M-SPAN (Military Support Programs and Networks), a group of programs at the University of Michigan developed to address the needs and challenges faced by service members, veterans and military families. Currently, 49 institutions across the country participate in the PAVE program.
